Life has been given to us by our God. We do not have authority to get rid of it from ourselves as we wish. Wanting to kill ourselves is a huge transgression before God. We should not do that.

Life is a gift given by God. Ruining it without using it properly is a sin.

Even if we take our life, it is a murder. So, suicide is also a murderous sin.

If we transgress the law of God and take our life by committing suicide, we will not receive the rest of God. So even after death, we will not have any peace.

Our life is not over with death. Our soul will still live. But if we want that soul to go to God and receive His rest, we should not commit suicide.

In this world, among our troubles, miseries, restlessness, trials and bitters, the LORD is graceful enough to give us comfort, support, peace and courage. So we do not have to take our life.

God has a goal and plan for our life. We will not commit suicide that His plan and goal are not fulfilled in our life and lose our inheritance.

When God is ready to make us live in this world, there is no need for us to take a rash decision and take our life, instead of using that chance to live.

Some time ago, a man punished his 5-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of expensive gold wrapping paper.

Money was tight, and he became even more upset when the child pasted the gold paper so as to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.

Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift box to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy." The father was embarrassed by his earlier over reaction, but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty.

He spoke to her in a harsh manner, "Don't you know, young lady, when you give someone a present there's supposed to be something inside the package?"

The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said, "Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into it until it was full." The father was crushed.... He fell on his knees and put his arms around his little girl, and he begged her to forgive him for his unnecessary anger.

An accident took the life of the child only a short time later, and it is told that the father kept that gold box by his bed for all the years of his life. Whenever he was discouraged or faced difficult problems he would open the box and take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each of us, as human beings,have been given a Golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our GOD. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

Whom Will Yahushua Welcome?

Yahushua says to his redeemed people, "For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

"Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Master, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (Matthew 25:34-40).

To be a toiler through patient continuance in well-doing, which calls for self-denying labor, is a glorious work, which Heaven smiles upon. Faithful work is more acceptable to Yahuwah than the most zealous and thought-to-be holiest worship. It is in working together with Yahushua that is true worship. Prayers, exhortation, and talk are cheap fruits, which are frequently tied on; but fruits that are manifested in good works, in caring for the needy, the fatherless, and widows, are genuine fruits, and grow naturally upon a good tree.

Pure religion and undefiled before the Father is this: "To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." (James 1:27). The doing principle is the fruit that Yahushua requires us to bear; deeds of benevolence, of kind words, of tender regard for the poor, the needy, the afflicted. When hearts sympathize with hearts burdened with discouragement and grief, when the hand dispenses to the needy, when the naked are clothed, the stranger made welcome to a seat at your fireside and to a place in your heart, angels are coming very near, and an answering strain is responded to in heaven. Every act, every deed of justice and mercy and benevolence, makes sweet music ring in heaven. The Father from his throne beholds and numbers them with his most precious treasures. "And they shall be mine, saith the Master of hosts, when I make up my jewels." (Malachi 3:17). Every merciful act done to the needy, the suffering, is counted as though it were done to Yahushua himself. When you succor the poor, sympathize with the afflicted and oppressed, and befriend the orphan, you bring yourselves into a closer relationship to Yahushua.

"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the Devil and his angels: for I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Master, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

"Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous into life eternal." (Matthew 25:41-46).

Yahushua here identifies himself with his suffering people. It was I who was hungry and thirsty. It was I who was a stranger. It was I who was naked. It was I who was sick. It was I who was in prison. While you were enjoying your food from your bountifully spread tables, I was famishing of hunger in the hovel or street not far from you. When you closed your doors against me, while your well-furnished rooms were unoccupied, I had not where to lay my head. Your wardrobes were filled with an abundant supply of changeable suits of apparel, upon which means had been needlessly squandered, which you might have given to the needy; I was destitute of comfortable apparel. When you were enjoying health, I was sick. Misfortune cast me into prison and bound me with fetters, bowing down my spirit, depriving me of freedom and hope, while you roamed free. What a oneness Yahushua here expresses as existing between himself and his suffering disciples. He makes their case his own. He identifies himself as being in person the very sufferer. Mark it, selfish followers of Yahushua! every neglect of yours to the needy poor, the orphan, the fatherless, is a neglect to Yahushua in their person.

I know some who make a high profession, but whose hearts are so encased in self-love and selfishness that they cannot appreciate what I am writing. All their lives they have thought and lived only for self. To make a worthy sacrifice to do others good, to disadvantage themselves to advantage others, is out of the question with them. They have not the least idea that Yahuwah requires it of them. Self is their dear idol. Precious weeks, months, and years of valuable time pass into eternity, but they have no record in heaven of kindly acts, of sacrificing for other's good, of feeding the hungry, in clothing the naked, or taking in the stranger. This entertaining strangers at a venture is not agreeable to them. If they knew that all who shared their bounty were worthy, then they might be induced to do something in this direction. But there is virtue in venturing something; perchance we may entertain angels.

There are orphans who can be cared for; but this some will not venture to undertake; for it brings them more work than they care to do, leaving them but little time for their own pleasure. But when the King shall make investigation, these do-nothing, illiberal, selfish souls will then learn that heaven is for those who have been workers, those who have denied themselves for Yahushua's sake. No provisions have been made for those who have ever taken such special care in loving and looking out for themselves. The terrible punishment the King threatened those on his left hand, in this case is not because of their great crimes. They are not condemned for the things which they did do, but for that which they did not do. You did not do those things Heaven assigned to you. You pleased yourself, and can take your portion with the self-pleasers.

To my sisters I would say, Be daughters of benevolence. The Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost. You may have thought that if you could find a child without fault, you would take it, and care for it; but to perplex your mind with an erring child, to have to instruct it, and to unteach it many things and teach it anew, to teach it self-control, is a work you refuse to undertake. To teach the ignorant, to pity those who have ever been learning evil, and to reform them, is no slight task; but Heaven has placed just such ones in your way. They are blessings in disguise.

Yahushua for our sakes became poor, that we through his poverty might be made rich. He made a sacrifice that he might provide a home for pilgrims and strangers in the world seeking for a better country, even an heavenly. Shall those who are subjects of his grace, who are expecting to be heirs of immortality, refuse or even feel reluctant to share their homes with the homeless and needy? Must strangers be refused entrance at the doors of those who are disciples of Yahushua because they can claim no acquaintance with any of the inmates? Has the injunction of the apostle no force in this age,--"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares"? (Hebrews 13:2).

Our heavenly Father lays blessings disguised in our pathway, which some will not touch for fear they will detract from their enjoyment. Angels are waiting to see if we embrace opportunities within our reach of doing good,--waiting to see if we will bless others, that they in turn may bless us. The Master himself has made us to differ--some poor, some rich, some afflicted--that all may have an opportunity to develop a character. The poor are purposely permitted of Yahuwah to be thus, that we might be tested and proved, and develop what is in our hearts.

I have heard many excuse themselves from inviting to their homes and hearts the saints of Yahuwah. "Why, I am not prepared for them--I have nothing cooked--they must go to some other place." And at that other place there may be some other excuse invented for not receiving those who need their hospitality; and the feelings of the visitors are deeply grieved, and they leave with unpleasant impressions in regard to their hospitality. If you have no bread, sister, imitate the case brought to view in the Bible. Go to your neighbor and say, "Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him." (Luke 11:5). We have not an example of this lack of bread ever being made an excuse to refuse entrance to an applicant.

When Elijah came to the widow of Sarepta, she shared her morsel with the prophet of Yahuwah, and he wrought a miracle, and caused that through that act of making a home for his servant and sharing her morsel with him, she herself was sustained, and her life and that of her son preserved. Thus will it prove in the case of many, if they do this cheerfully for the glory of Yahuwah. Others plead their poor health--they would love to do it if they had strength. Such have so long shut themselves up to themselves, and thought so much of their own poor feelings, and talked so much of their sufferings, trials, and afflictions, that it is their present truth. They cannot think of any one else, however much they may be in need of sympathy and assistance. You who are suffering with poor health, there is a remedy for you. If you clothe the naked, and bring the poor that are cast out to your house, and deal your bread to the hungry, "then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy health shall spring forth speedily." (Isaiah 58:8). Doing good is an excellent remedy for disease. Such are invited to bring their prayers to Yahuwah, and he has pledged himself to answer them. His soul shall be satisfied in drought, and he "shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." (Isaiah 58:11).

Wake up, brethren and sisters. Don't be afraid of good works. Be not weary in well-doing, for you shall reap in due time if you faint not. Do not wait to be told your duty. Open your eyes and see who are around you, and make yourselves acquainted with the helpless, afflicted, and needy. Hide not yourselves from them, and seek not to shut out their needs. Who give the proofs mentioned in James of their possessing pure religion, untainted with any selfishness or corruption? Who are anxious to do all it is in their power to do to aid in the great plan of salvation?

As you regard your eternal interest, arouse yourselves, and begin to sow good seed. That which ye sow shall ye also reap. The harvest is coming--the great reaping time, when we shall reap what we have sown. There will be no failure in the crop. The harvest is sure. Now is the sowing time. Now make efforts to be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate, laying up in store for yourselves a good foundation against the time to come, that ye may lay hold on eternal life. I implore you, my brethren, in every place, rid yourselves of your icy coldness. Encourage in yourselves a love of hospitality, a love to help those who need help.

You may say you have been deceived, bestowing your means upon those unworthy of your charity, and therefore have become discouraged in trying to help the needy. I present Yahushua before you. He came to the earth and died to save fallen man. He came to bring salvation to his own nation; but they would not accept him. They treated his mercy with insult and contempt, and at length they put to death him who came for the purpose of giving life to them. Did our Master turn from all the fallen race because of this? If your efforts for good have been unsuccessful ninety-nine times, and you receive only insult, reproach, and hate, if the one-hundredth effort proves a success, and one soul is saved, oh, what a victory is achieved! One soul wrenched from Satan's grasp; one soul you have benefited; one soul encouraged! This will a thousand times pay you for all your efforts. To you Yahushua will say, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."Should we not gladly do all we can to imitate the life of our divine Master?

of going to work every day
while his wife stayed home.
He wanted her to see what he went

If God Created Everything, Who Created God?

Christianity's answer
Christianity answers the question of who created God in the very first verse of the very first book, Genesis:

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1)

This verse tells us that God was acting before time when He created the universe. Many other verses from the New Testament tells us that God was acting before time began, and so, He created time, along with the other dimensions of our universe:

No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. (1 Corinthians 2:7)
This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time (2 Timothy 1:9)
The hope of eternal life, which God... promised before the beginning of time (Titus 1:2)
To the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude 1:25)

The idea that God created time, along with the physical universe, is not just some wacky modern Christian interpretation of the Bible. Justin Martyr, a second century Christian apologist, in his Hortatory Address to the Greeks, said that Plato got the idea that time was created along with the universe from Moses:

"And from what source did Plato draw the information that time was created along with the heavens? For he wrote thus: ï¿½Time, accordingly, was created along with the heavens; in order that, coming into being together, they might also be together dissolved, if ever their dissolution should take place.ï¿½ Had he not learned this from the divine history of Moses?"¹

God exists in timeless eternity

How does God acting before time began get around the problem of God's creation? There are two possible interpretations of these verses. One is that God exists outside of time. Since we live in a universe of cause and effect, we naturally assume that this is the only way in which any kind of existence can function. However, the premise is false. Without the dimension of time, there is no cause and effect, and all things that could exist in such a realm would have no need of being caused, but would have always existed. Therefore, God has no need of being created, but, in fact, created the time dimension of our universe specifically for a reason - so that cause and effect would exist for us. However, since God created time, cause and effect would never apply to His existence.

God exists in multiple dimension of time

The second interpretation is that God exists in more than one dimension of time. Things that exist in one dimension of time are restricted to time's arrow and are confined to cause and effect. However, two dimensions of time form a plane of time, which has no beginning and no end and is not restricted to any single direction. A being that exists in at least two dimension of time can travel anywhere in time and yet never had a beginning, since a plane of time has no starting point. Either interpretation leads one to the conclusion that God has no need of having been created.

Why can't the universe be eternal?

The idea that God can be eternal leads us to the idea that maybe the universe is eternal, and, therefore, God doesn't need to exist at all. Actually, this was the prevalent belief of atheists before the observational data of the 20^th century strongly refuted the idea that the universe was eternal. This fact presented a big dilemma for atheists, since a non-eternal universe implied that it must have been caused. MaybeGenesis 1:1 was correct! Not to be dismayed by the facts, atheists have invented some metaphysical "science" that attempt to explain away the existence of God. Hence, most atheistic cosmologists believe that we see only the visible part of a much larger "multiverse" that randomly spews out universes with different physical parameters.² Since there is no evidence supporting this idea (nor can there be, according to the laws of the universe), it is really just a substitute "god" for atheists. And, since this "god" is non-intelligent by definition, it requires a complex hypothesis, which would be ruled out if we use Occam's razor, which states that one should use the simplest logical explanation for any phenomenon. Purposeful intelligent design of the universe makes much more sense, especially based upon what we know about the design of the universe.

What does science say about time?

When Stephen Hawking, George Ellis, and Roger Penrose extended the equations for general relativity to include space and time, the results showed that time has a beginning - at the moment of creation (i.e., the Big Bang).³ In fact, if you examine university websites, you will find that many professors make such a claim - that the universe had a beginning and that this beginning marked the beginning of time (see The Universe is Not Eternal, But Had A Beginning). Such assertions support the Bible's claim that time began at the creation of the universe.

Conclusion

God has no need to have been created, since He exists either outside time (where cause and effect do not operate) or within multiple dimensions of time (such that there is no beginning of God's plane of time). Hence God is eternal, having never been created. Although it is possible that the universe itself is eternal, eliminating the need for its creation, observational evidence contradicts this hypothesis, since the universe began to exist a finite ~13.7 billion years ago. The only possible escape for the atheist is the invention of a kind of super universe, which can never be confirmed experimentally (hence it is metaphysical in nature, and not scientific). source ....

Why did God give health rules?

What perfect diet did God give people to eat when He created them?

Everything was vegetarian before sin and death. God gave man fruits, nuts and seeds for food, which were harvested without killing the plant. After sin man lost access to the tree of life and God added vegetables, “the herb of the field.” (Gen 3:18), which lose their life to feed us.

When was meat eating permitted?

Though God never intended meat to be eaten, He permitted it after the Flood “even as the green herb,” (i.e. an addition given because of sin, but which God never intended. Gen 9:3). Therefore, from Adam till meat eating was permitted after the Flood, a period of over 1600 years, all of God’s people were vegetarian.

Did God allow men to eat all kinds of animals?

No. God made a distinction between clean and unclean animals and made this known to Noah from whom all races come (Gen 7:1-2). The distinction between clean and unclean did not originate with the Jews or the Mosaic law.

Milk and eggs, which were always intended as foods - for baby animals - were also permitted. However meat requires death, and as death is the result of sin, meat was never intended as food.

Note: Cow’s milk is for growing calves. Cows don’t even drink milk. Where do cows get the calcium that is found in their milk? From plants. Milk contains lactose. Most human beings are lactose intolerant beyond the age of weaning. Many people are also allergic to milk. There is no need to drink milk if one is on a balanced vegetarian diet.

Because God loves us and knows how our bodies work, what items did He call unclean and forbid us to eat?

Lev 11:4 “Nevertheless these shall ye not eat...the camel...the coney...the hare...the swine...Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that [shall be] an abomination unto you.”

Could eating Pork, when one knows what God commands, jeopardize one’s salvation?

Didn’t the distinction between clean and unclean end at the cross?

Acts 10:14 “But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or UNCLEAN.”

Note: These passages were written long after Calvary and the distinction between clean and unclean still exists. Isa 66:15-17 shows the distinction will exist till the Second Coming.

Does the Bible forbid Alcohol?

The word “wine” in the English Bible is usually translated from the Hebrew “Yayin” and the Greek “Oinos” and can refer to fermented OR unfermented grape juice. Those texts speaking favourably of wine, or using it to symbolize good things, refer to UNFERMENTED wine (grape juice). Those texts condemning wine, or using it to symbolize evil, refer to fermented intoxicating wine.

Prov 20:1 “Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”

Prov 23:31-32 “Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, [when] it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.”

Christ’s pure truth is represented by the pure uncorrupted juice of the grape. Corrupted teachings are represented by fermented grape juice:

Rev 17:2 “With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made DRUNK with the WINE of her fornication.”

Mother's Day is special to all of us, isn't it? All of us look forward to this day to let our mummy dear know how special she is to us. But do you know just how this day came into existence; when was it first observed or who celebrated it first? If you don't, read on to know about the fabulous history of Mother's Day. You are sure to enjoy it. To share this splendid article on the history and origin of Mother's Day with your friends.

The history of Mother's Day is centuries old and the earliest Mother's Day celebrations can be traced back to the spring celebrations of ancient Greece in honor of Rhea, the Mother of the Gods. During the 1600's, the early Christians in England celebrated a day to honor Mary, the mother of Christ. By a religious order the holiday was later expanded in its scope to include all mothers, and named as the Mothering Sunday. Celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent (the 40 day period leading up to Easter), "Mothering Sunday" honored the mothers of England.

During this time many of the England's poor worked as servants for the wealthy. As most jobs were located far from their homes, the servants would live at the houses of their employers. On Mothering Sunday, the servants would have the day off and were encouraged to return home and spend the day with their mothers. A special cake, called the mothering cake, was often brought along to provide a festive touch.

As Christianity spread throughout Europe the celebration changed to honor the "Mother Church" - the spiritual power that gave them life and protected them from harm. Over time the church festival blended with the Mothering Sunday celebration . People began honoring their mothers as well as the church.

With the passage of time, the practice of this fantastic tradition ceased slowly. The English colonists settled in America discontinued the tradition of Mothering Sunday because of lack of time.

In the United States, Mother's Day was loosely inspired by the British day and was first suggested after the American Civil War by social activist Julia Ward Howe. Howe (who wrote the words to the Battle hymn of the Republic) was horrified by the carnage of the Civil War and the Franco-Prussian War and so, in 1870, she tried to issue a manifesto for peace at international peace conferences in London and Paris (it was much like the later Mother's Day Peace Proclamation). During the Franco-Prussian war in the 1870s, Julia began a one-woman peace crusade and made an impassioned "appeal to womanhood" to rise against war. She composed in Boston a powerful plea that same year (generally considered to be the original Mothers' Day proclamation*) translated it into several languages and distributed it widely. In 1872, she went to London to promote an international Woman's Peace Congress. She began promoting the idea of a "Mother's Day for Peace" to be celebrated on June 2, honoring peace, motherhood and womanhood. In the Boston Mass, she initiated a Mothers' Peace Day observance on the second Sunday in June, a practice that was to be established as an annual event and practiced for at least 10 years. The day was, however, mainly intended as a call to unite women against war. It was due to her efforts that in 1873, women in 18 cities in America held a Mother's Day for Pace gathering. Howe rigorously championed the cause of official celebration of Mothers Day and declaration of official holiday on the day. She held meetings every year at Boston on Mother's Peace Day and took care that the day was well-observed. The celebrations died out when she turned her efforts to working for peace and women's rights in other ways. Howe failed in her attempt to get the formal recognition of a Mother's Day for Peace. Her remarkable contribution in the establishment of Mother's Day, however, remains in the fact that she organized a Mother's Day dedicated to peace. It is a landmark in the history of Mother's Day in the sense that this was to be the precursor to the modern Mother's Day celebrations. To acknowledge Howe's achievements a stamp was issued in her honor in 1988.

It should be well to remember that Howe's idea was influenced by Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis, a young Appalachian homemaker who, starting in 1858, had attempted to improve sanitation through what she called "Mothers Friendship Day". In the 1900's, at a time when most women devoted their time solely on their family and homes, Jarvis was working to assist in the healing of the nation after the Civil War. She organized women throughout the Civil War to work for better sanitary conditions for both sides and in 1868 she began work to reconcile Union and Confederate neighbors. Ann was instrumental in saving thousands of lives by teaching women in her Mothers Friendship Clubs the basics of nursing and sanitation which she had learned from her famous physician brother James Reeves, M.D. In parts of the United States it was customary to plant tomatoes outdoors after Mother's Work Days (and not before).

It was Jarvis' daughter, Anna Jarvis, who finally succeeded in introducing Mother's Day in the sense as we celebrate it today. Anna graduated from the Female Seminary in Wheeling and taught in Grafton for a while. Later she moved to Philadelphia with her family. Anna had spent many years looking after her ailing mother. This is why she preferred to remain a spinster. When her mother died in Philadelphia on May 9, 1905, Anna missed her greatly. So did her sister Elsinore whom she looked after as well. Anna felt children often neglected to appreciate their mother enough while the mother was still alive. Now, she intended to start a Mother's Day, as an honoring of the mothers. In 1907, two years after her mother's death, Anna Jarvis disclosed her intention to her friends who supported her cause wholeheartedly. So supported by her friends, Anna decided to dedicate her life to her mother's cause and to establish Mother's Day to "honor mothers, living and dead." She started the campaign to establish a national Mother's Day. With her friends, she started a letter-writing campaign to urge ministers, businessmen and congressmen in declaring a national Mother's Day holiday. She hoped Mother's Day would increase respect for parents and strengthen family bonds.

As a result of her efforts the first mother's day was observed on May 10, 1908, by a church service honoring Late Mrs. Reese Jarvis, in the Andrews Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia, where she spent 20 years taking Sunday school classes. Grafton is the home to the International Mother's Day Shrine. Another service was also conducted on the same date in Philadelphia where Mrs. Jarvis died, leaving her two daughters Anna and Elsinore. So it was more of a homage service for Mrs. Reeves Jarvis than a general one conducted in honor of motherhood. Nevertheless, this set the stage for the later Mother's Day observances held in the honor of motherhood.

Following this, it gained a widespread popularity across the nation. The Mother's Day International Association came into being on December 12, 1912, to promote and encourage meaningful observances of the event. Anna's dream came true when on May 9, 1914, the Presidential proclamation declared the 2nd Sunday of May to be observed as Mother's Day to honor the mothers.

It was here in the first observance that the carnations were introduced by Miss Jarvis. Large jars of white carnations were set about the platform where the service was conducted. At the end of the exercise one of these white carnations was given to each person present as a souvenir of Mother's Day. All this was done because the late elder Jarvis was fond of carnations.

From there, the custom caught on -- spreading eventually to 45 states. The first Mother's Day proclamation was issued by the governor of West Virginia in 1910. Oklahoma celebrated it in that same year. It stirred the same way in as far west as the state of Washington. And by 1911 there was not a state in the Union that did not have its own observances for Mother's Day. Soon it crossed the national boundary, as people in Mexico, Canada, South America, China, Japan and Africa all joined the spree to celebrate a day for mother love.

The Mother's Day International Association came into being on December 12, 1912, to promote and encourage meaningful observances of the event. Starting from 1912, Mother's day began to be officially declared a holiday by some states. Anna's dream came true when in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared the first national Mother's Day, as a day for American citizens to show the flag in honor of those mothers whose sons had died in war.

The House of Representatives in May 1913 unanimously adopted a resolution requesting the President, his cabinet, the members of both Houses and all officials of the federal government to wear a white carnation on Mother's Day. On May 7,1914, a resolution providing that the second Sunday in May be designated Mother's Day was introduced by Representative James T. Heflin of Alabama and Senator Morris Sheppard of Texas. It passed both Houses and on May 9, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson made the first official announcement proclaiming Mother's Day as a national holiday that was to be held each year on the 2nd Sunday of May. He asked Americans to give a public expression of reverence to mothers through the celebration of Mother's Day:

"Now, Therefore, I, Woodrow Wilson, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the said Joint Resolution, do hereby direct the government officials to display the United States flag on all government buildings and do invite the people of the United States to display the flag at their homes or other suitable places on the second Sunday in May as a public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country."

And issuing a Mother's day Proclamation has since then been a convention.

Nine years after the first official Mother's Day, commercialization of the U.S. holiday became so rampant that Anna Jarvis herself became a major opponent of what the holiday had become. While honored for her part in the growth of the holiday, Anna Jarvis' last life was miserable. As the observance of Mother's Day enjoyed increasing popularity, new dimensions came to be added to it. This made Anna Jarvis disillusioned with her own creation. Though the original spirit of honoring the mothers remained the same, what began as a religious service expanded quickly into a more secular observance leading to giving of flowers, cards, and gifts. And Anna Jarvis was unable to cope with this changing mode of expression.

In 1934 Postmaster General James A. Farley announced a stamp to commemorate Mother's Day. The stamp featured the famous painting "Arrangement in Grey and Black". The painting was a portrait of the mother of James Abbott McNeill Whistler, an English artist. It was brought in to the United States as part of an exhibit in the year 1934.

Mother's Day continues to this day to be one of the most commercially successful U.S. occasions. According to the National Restaurant Association, Mother's Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States. The occasion is now celebrated not so much with flags as with gifts, cards, hugs, thank yous and other tokens of affection. While many countries of the world celebrate their own Mother's Day on different days and at different times throughout the year, there are some countries such as Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, and Belgium which also celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May. In some countries, the appreciation lasts for two days.

Today, Mother's Day is a day honoring mothers, celebrated on various days in many places around the world. It is the day when you acknowledge your mothers contribution in your life and pay a tribute to her, often with flowers and gifts. It complements Father's Day, the celebration honoring fathers.

Does prayer require a secret formula to get through to God?

Is there anything in life as exciting as prayer?

And yet, we single people have managed to turn it into a chore, haven't we? If we don't get what we ask God for, we have to forceourselves to keep praying for it.

When you think about the privilege of communicating with God, however, the idea is truly overwhelming, even when you feel frustrated at times.

To look at the night sky, the trees, mountains, oceans, and other people on this planet then to realize that the Being who created everything wants to talk with you, personally, intimately, is almost too much to grasp.

How are your conversations with God going, as a single? Do you talk with him as much as you should? Have your career, busyness, and worries crowded these conversations out of your life? Have you felt the same frustration I have, because it seems as if God never answers?

What I learned about prayer

Being a fairly methodical person, several years ago I decided to get to the bottom of prayer. I set out to learn as much as I could, and I gave myself five years to do it.

I read every book I could find on the subject. I read magazine articles, newspaper articles, talked with people, and of course, plumbed the Bible. I studied books by men and women who were recognized experts on prayer, but I also went through new books that contained radical theories.

At times my research became hopelessly confusing. Much of the material was contradictory. Some of it bordered on downright weird.

When my five-year study was done, I came to one unassailable conclusion:

Prayer is talking with God.

In addition, I gained some insight into what our job is not when we pray:

Our job is not to bargain with God. We're not hagglers at a bazaar.
Our job is not to persuade God. We're not lawyers in a courtroom.
Our job is not to convince God. We're not traveling salesmen.
Our job is not to plead with God. We're not beggars on a street corner.

Through the saving death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our position is adopted sons and daughters of God. That means God is our caring, loving Father.

Our job, then, as sons and daughters, is to request from our Father God in a spirit of respect and humility.

What? No secrets?

Maybe you're disappointed. At first, I was too. But the more I thought about my finding, the more I liked it. It made good sense. It was perfectly in keeping with what Jesus taught in the Bible. And best of all, it took much of the mystery and fear out of prayer.

God isn't playing games. He's too loving and holy for that. He doesn't lay down a complicated set of criteria before he'll listen to us. He doesn't listen more intently to religious celebrities than he does to you and me. And he doesn't reserve prayer for huge, crisis situations.

The concept that prayer is talking with God makes some Christians nervous. They like to believe that you have to be spotless from sin, completely holy and clean before God will listen to you.

That's not what Jesus said. In his parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector praying in the temple (Luke 18:10-14), he said that the Pharisee bragged about how he was better than sinners, how he followed all the rituals so he would be pleasing to God. The tax collector, in contrast, said "God have mercy on me, a sinner." Then Jesus said,

"I tell you that this man (tax collector), rather than the other (Pharisee), went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Certainly God does want us to confess our sins to him and repent for them. But if only spotless, sinless people were qualified to pray, God would have a lot of time on his hands.

Doctor Jesus wants to heal you

Have you ever been to a doctor? Of course you have. But have you ever been treated by Doctor Jesus?
Maybe we don't use that title for him, but he told us that he is a doctor:
"It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentence." (Luke 5:31-32)
And since we're all sinners, that means he'll make a house call--or a work call or hospital call or wherever you need him--just to see you.
Here's what the Bible tells us about Doctor Jesus:

He's on duty 24/7, 365 days a year.
You never need to make an appointment.
You never have to wait.
He'll take all the time you need.
No problem is too hard for him.
He always makes the right diagnosis, even when you don't know what the problem is yourself.
He can heal you physically.
He can heal you emotionally.
He can heal you spiritually.
He charges no fees.
He's never lost a patient.

What's more, he's eager for you to come to him for treatment. In fact,he'll even come to you. Sometimes his treatment may be difficult, like giving up your bad habits, but he's the only physician who took the painful treatment you had coming, so your life could be saved.
When you begin to see Jesus in this role, you'll have a much better understanding of how he can help you. Your health--your very life--is in his hands, but these are skilled hands, gentle hands, forgiving hands. You're absolutely safe in his hands. The outcome is always life. And not just renewed life or extended life, but eternal life.
So take your problem to Doctor Jesus tonight. Ask him to heal you and give you the medicine of his presence to strengthen you in your daily struggles. This Great Physician knows exactly what you need. You can trust him with your life.

Be Determined!

It takes courage to be led by God. It’s not easy to “break the mold” and rise above the limits others place on you. When you do, you’ll face disapproval. Jesus did. When the folks He grew up around said, “Is not this the carpenter’s son?” (Matthew 13:55 ), they were really saying, “He should stay in His place!”

When they tell you that, don’t listen. “Every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12).

In the final audit you’ll discover that not only is it wrong to be judgmental of others, it’s also wrong to permit their opinions to control you. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose hope [confidence]is in him.”

To follow God’s leading you must have confidence that:
(1) He loves you in spite of your shortcomings;
(2) He has a definite plan for your life;
(3) you are capable of hearing from Him for yourself;
(4) whatever He asks of you, He will enable you to do.

Once you’ve heard from God, be resolute! Things worth having never come easy. If you find yourself weakening, ask God for determination and He will impart it to you through His Spirit. If you find yourself being “double minded,” go back and ask yourself what God told you in the beginning - then STICK WITH IT. .. . .

Don’t go in a different direction because of worry, or discouragement, or the sentiments of others. Remind yourself that YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED IN WHATEVER GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO DO. If you’ve made Jesus Lord of your life, HIS determination lives in you - because HE lives in you.

I think the message today was one that the Lord gave to me [just for me] as I am always questioning my ability to follow through on the Homeless mission the Lord has called me to.

I am always telling those that write me and say the message was just for them that the Lord was on time.. As He is an on time God every time . . All the time…… Well I am saying that to my self right now…. When we need to hear something the Lord will always find a way of getting the message to us.

WHAT IS THE PLAN OF SALVATION?

The Plan of Salvation is our Heavenly Father's plan to enable us to become like Him and receive a fullness of joy. This plan is centered on the Atonement of Jesus Christ and includes all the commandments, ordinances, and teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

By following the teachings of Jesus Christ, we find a lasting and true inner peace in this life and eternal joy after we die.

As you learn about the plan of salvation, you will find answers to these questions: "Where did I come from?" "What is my purpose in life?" "Where will I go after this life?"

Below are links that will further discuss each of those concepts. May you have the spirit of understanding and wisdom as you find your meaning in this (earthly) life.

Life Before Birth

We all lived in a premortal existence, as spirits, with our Father in Heaven before birth.

Where do we go when we die?

Where do those who die by suicide go?

"Such are not to be condemned for taking their own lives. Judgment is the Lord’s; He knows the thoughts, intents, and abilities of all his children; and he in his infinite wisdom will make all things right in due course."

Everyone will have an opportunity

Our Heavenly Father has provided a way - The Lord will judge each of us with justice, mercy, and love.
For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. (1 Peter 4:6)

When the king of Israel needed a strategy for defeating the Syrians he turned to the prophet Elisha, who told him,

'..."Take a bow and some arrows."...' So he took himself a bow and some arrows.

Then he said to the king of Israel, '..."Put your hand on the bow."...' So he put his hand on it, and Elisha put his hands on the king's hands.

And he said, '..."Open the east window"...'; and he opened it.

Then Elisha said, '..."Shoot"...'; and he shot.

And he said, '..."The arrow of the Lord's deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; for you must strike the Syrians at Aphek till you have destroyed them."'

Then he said, '..."Take the arrows"...'; so he took them.

And he said to the king of Israel, '..."Strike the ground"...'; so he struck three times, and stopped.

And the man of God was angry with him, and said, '..."You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it!

But now you will strike Syria only three times"'(vv. 15-19).

What are you asking God to do?

To save someone you love? To provide finances? To help you break a habit? To succeed in your career?

Find out what He has promised you in His Word, and use those promises like arrows.

Aim them at your problem, shoot, and keep shooting until God moves on your behalf.

If this story teaches you anything, it's this:

there are situations in life when faith and persistence not only determine your victory, but also the extent to which you win.

Refiner of Silver

Refiner of Silver

Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of

God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. That

week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason

for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over

the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames

were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot then she thought again about the verse that says:

"He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver."

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the

fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she

asked the silversmith,

"How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"
He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy - when I see my image in it."

Praise in the Early Stages

We read, “When the builders completed the foundation of the Lord’s Temple…all the people gave a great shout, praising the Lord” (vv. 10-11 NLT). Why praise God in the early stages of something?

(1) Because praise is an act of faith. It says, “Lord, what You start, You finish. Thank You
for giving me Your plan because Your plan always prevails. Some folks think I won’t succeed, but with You on my side I’ll succeed anyway. I’m not doing this for myself; I’m doing it for You and with You.”

(2) Because praise strengthens you. Nehemiah told his workers, “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh 8:10). If you lose your joy you lose your strength. If you lose your strength you lose your power to overcome the enemy. If you lose your power to overcome the enemy, you’re defeated. But if you praise God even when all you have in front of you is a small beginning, His joy will energize you and you’ll find it easier to complete the task. If you only praise God when things are easy or going right, you won’t praise much, you won’t have joy and you won’t have strength.

(3) Because praise changes your environment. Imagine wheelbarrows, cement mixers, a partially-built wall, and in the midst of it people shouting the praises of God. That’s what happens when you put on a praise CD or tune in to a Christian station; your problems don’t necessarily change, but your outlook does. Simply stated, when you praise God in the early stages, you work better and the job gets done!

An Anonymous Phone Call

Isn't it amazing how God works in our lives!

On a Saturday night several weeks ago, the pastor was working late, and decided to call his wife before he left for home.

It was about 10:00 PM, but his wife didn't answer the phone.

The pastor let the phone ring many times.

He thought it was odd that she didn't answer, but decided to wrap up a few things and try again in a few
minutes.

When he tried again she answered right away. He asked her why she hadn't answered before, and she said that it hadn't rung at their house.

They brushed it off as a fluke and went on their merry ways.

The following Monday, the pastor received a call at the church office, which was the phone that he'd used that Saturday night.

The man that he spoke with wanted to know why he'd called on Saturday night.

The pastor couldn't figure out what the man was talking about.

Then the man said, "It rang and rang, but I didn't answer."

The pastor remembered the mishap and apologized for disturbing him, explaining that he'd intended to
call his wife.

The man said, "That's, OK. Let me tell you my story.

You see, I was planning to commit suicide on Saturday night, but before I did, I prayed,

'God if you're there, and you don't want me to do this, give me a sign now.'

At that point my phone started to ring.

I looked at the caller ID, and it said,

'Almighty God'. I was afraid to answer!"
The reason why it showed on the man's caller ID that the call came from

"Almighty God" is because the church that the pastor attends is called Almighty God Tabernacle!!...... :-)

The first deportation took place in the 4th year of King Jehoiakim which was the 1st year of the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon (Jeremiah 25:1, II Chronicles 36:5-7)

The second deportation took place in the 7th year of the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon (Jeremiah 52:28) 3,023 people were taken to Babylon.In the 8th year of the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar, Jerusalem was besieged (II Kings 24:11) and 10,000 people were taken captive to Babylon (II Kings 24:14) along with King Jehoiachin. The third deportation occurred in the 19th year of the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar. This would have been in the 11th year of King Zedekiah's reign. Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed at this time (II Kings 25:8-11). ---> 586 B.C.E

     Those remnant of Jews who did return from the exile in Babylon did so in three stages:

The first stage was under Cyrus, King of Persia. This is found in Ezra chapters 1-6. The leaders of Israel in this effort was Zerubbabel and Jeshua (Ezra 3:2). But they had difficulties (Ezra 4:3-5, 5:2). The temple was rebuilt after a period of time (Ezra 6:14-15). Herod enlarged and beautified this temple (John 2:18-20).From the first deportation to the beginning of rebuilding the temple was 70 years
(605 B.C.E. - 536 B.C.E)
The temple was destroyed in 586 B.C.E The temple was completed in the 6th year of the reign of Darius, King of Persia (Ezra 6:14-15). This would make the completion take place in 516 B.C.E. From the time the temple was destroyed, to the time the temple was rebuilt, was 70 years.
The second stage of return from captivity is in Ezra 7. This happened in the 7th year of the reign of Artaxerxes, King of Persia (Ezra 7:1-7). This would be in 458 B.C.E As many as wished could go back from Babylon, based upon the decree of King Artaxerxes in Ezra 7:11-13. The number who returned were 1,758 (Ezra 8:1-20).
The third stage of return from captivity is in the book of Nehemiah. The Jews began to come back in the 20th year of the reign of King Artaxerxes (Nehemiah 2:1). This would be in 444 B.C.E. Those people who returned are listed in Nehemiah 7. A decree given by King Artaxerxes to rebuild the temple in the 20th year is found in Nehemiah 2:1-8, 5:14.

     ===> From the commandment to restore and rebuild the temple (Nehemiah 2:1-8, 5:14) which is 444 B.C.E until the death of Yeshua/Jesus, would be 69 weeks or 483 years (Daniel 9:1-4, 20-27).
                One week in Daniel's prophecy will equal 7 years of time. The word week in Hebrew is "shevua" (Strong's 7620) which means a period of 7. Daniel 9:24-27 is known as the prophecy of the 70 weeks of Daniel. The 70th week of Daniel is another name for the 7 year tribulation.
                These 70 weeks are God's outline of time from 444 B.C.E. to the setting up and the establishment of the millennial reign of Yeshua/Jesus on the earth.The ending of the 69th week is when Daniel prophecied that Yeshua/Jesus would be crucified. Yeshua/Jesus called this "the day of thy visitation" in Luke 19:41-44.
                ----> God is exact and very detailed in communicating his Word to His people.

     ===> In the history of Israel, Israel will go into captivity 3 times and return from captivity 3 times.

The captivity in Egypt and return to the land of Israel (Genesis 15:13, Exodus 12:41). This period of time was 430 years. Israel did not return to the land in faith but in unbelief (Numbers 13:1-3, 25-33, Hebrews 4:1-6, 9-12).
The captivity in Babylon and return to the land of Israel (Jeremiah 25:11). Israel did not return to the land as God commanded. They returned in unbelief ---> only a remnant returned. The punishment of Israel and Judah for not obeying God and His Torah during the reigns of the Kings of Israel and Judah was 430 years of captivity. (Ezekiel 4:3-6 ---> Each day for a year [Ezekiel 4:6]).If Israel did not repent after being punished for sinning and disobeying the Torah, then the punishment would be multiplied by 7 (Leviticus 26:14-15, 18, 21, 24, 28).
Worldwide captivity and return. The period of time for this worldwide captivity and return would be 360 X 7 = 2520 Biblical years. This period of time would end in 1948.

===> God is judging Israel according to the Torah given at Mt. Sinai. Because Israel was not obedient to the Torah, they were judged by God according to the Torah as specified by God in Deuteronomy 28 as their punishment for disobeying the Torah.
The blessings for obeying God's Torah are found in Deuteronomy 28:1-14. The punishments for disobeying God's Torah are given in Deuteronomy 28:15-67.

===> Just like the children of Israel, believers are also judged by God whenever we don't obey His Torah/Word in our lives.

Look for the Best in the Worst

When Thomas Carlyle completed his manuscript on the French Revolution, he asked his neighbor John Stuart Mill to read it. Later Mill came to Carlyle’s house, shaken and pale.

His maid had inadvertently used it to light the fire! Carlyle despaired - two years lost! Writing it initially was daunting enough; rewriting it was unthinkable. Then one day, watching a stonemason build a wall, he observed it was going up one brick at a time.

Inspired, he thought, “I’ll write a page today and one tomorrow. One at a time; that’s all I’ll think about.” It was slow, tedious work, but he persevered and the result outshone his original.

Jon Gordon writes, “If you’re concerned about the future…I know how you feel. I lost my job in 2001…the company sank faster than the Titanic…I thought it was the worst event of my life. I was two months away from bankruptcy. I’d a wife, two children, a mortgage, no health insurance, and very little savings. Eventually they led to the work I now do as a writer, consultant, and speaker. I went from Fired to Fired-up! My lay-off led to my life’s mission…what I thought was the worst…led to the best…

My friends, this was a lesson I had to learn the hard way. I pray that each of you who are reading this message, are doing so with the greatest understanding, that the Lord wants only the very best for His children so that you will not have to go the long way around (like I did) to counteract the curses and turn them into blessings….

When someone says you will never amount to anything, or you are no good, etc. etc. counteract these curses with blessings from the Lord.

Speak only blessings over yourself, with words like "I am a child of the Most High"; I am favored in His sight"; "The Lord will bless me and keep me all the days of my life"; "I am part of a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation"; Do you get the idea????
All of these blessings can be found in the Bible and I am including a link with many verses of who we are in Christ. Be sure to read them, print them off, post them on your fridge, your night stand, your computer. Memorize them so that you can counter act any attempt from the old "turdky" to try to bring you down.

If you want to enjoy God’s blessing, observe two things about the life of Noah:

(1) He honored God. “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” ~Hebrews 11:7~

Noah had never seen rain, nor had anyone else. He lived a hundred miles from the nearest ocean. Even if he could learn to build a ship, how would he get it to water? And how about rounding up all those animals? For a hundred and twenty years he was a laughingstock. But because he honored God, he came out on top.

(2) He obeyed God. “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” ~Genesis 6:22~

Understanding can wait; obedience can’t. Instant obedience will teach you more about God than a lifetime of Bible discussions. In fact, there are many of God’s commandments you won’t understand until you first obey them.

When Noah emerged from the ark after the flood God said to him, “Be fruitful and multiply.. . . . . .every morning shall be meat for you.. . . . now have I given you all things” ~Genesis 9:1-3~

With God, your reward will always be greater than your obedience.

Sometimes we try partial obedience: “I’ll attend church but I won’t tithe. I’ll read my Bible but I won’t forgive the person who hurt me.” Partial obedience is disobedience!

THE ARK SAILS AWAY

Why is obedience so important? Because Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments" ~James 14:15~

Understanding can wait.. .obedience can't. . . this has always been a fault of mine... I have always wanted to know hows & whys of every situation.

If I knew them then I would be able to work doubly hard at my task, (even if I did not agree with it)... Over the last 2 years I have learned that being obedient to the Lord with out knowing the hows & whys will bring me more understanding in the long run than I would have had if I had been given the answers to begin with.

What it comes down to is this. . . . do as the Lord directs you to do and ask questions later. ... . Put your trust and Faith in Him, He will never take you on a wild goose ride. . . . He loves us and wants nothing but the best for each of us.
